_ABOUT

I’ve always been drawn to photography, but for a long time it was digital and mostly unconsidered. I’d take pictures of things that looked nice – sunsets, trees, whatever caught my eye – but I wasn’t really thinking about why. There was no meaning behind it, no sense of what it added up to. Over time, I started to lose interest, because I didn’t know what the point was. What’s changed is that I’ve built a sense of purpose into it – something that reflects how I think and what I value.

Digital photography encourages perfection – shoot dozens of frames, edit heavily, and chase a polished result. Even phones now enhance skies, smooth skin, and alter light in ways that weren’t actually there. We’re no longer capturing what we saw – we’re manufacturing what we think a good photo should look like.

Film doesn’t work that way. You get a few chances, and that’s it. You don’t check the screen or make adjustments in the moment. You slow down. You compose carefully. You move on. There’s real excitement when the scans come back – not knowing exactly what to expect, and seeing whether the care you took paid off.

What you see in my images is what the camera saw. I don’t edit colours or enhance anything afterwards. The only creative decision I make is the film I use – each has its own tone and texture, but that’s down to chemistry and light, not sliders and filters. That feels important to me – it keeps things honest and real.

Despite using film, I’m not overly attached to prints. I appreciate each medium for what it offers. Film gives me intention, honesty, and a way of working that slows things down and makes me more deliberate. Digital makes things efficient and easy to manage – no physical clutter. I’m not chasing a “correct” way to do things – just the one that aligns with how I like to work.

I don’t think it’s enough to take photos and let them sit unseen or disappear into a feed. Platforms like Instagram are too fast, too saturated. A photo might get a like, but it rarely gets proper attention. That throwaway feel doesn’t suit what I’m trying to do.

That’s why I built this site. I wanted a single place where everything I’ve done could sit together – uncluttered, considered, and on my own terms. Something to take pride in. Somewhere I can share what I’ve been doing, and hopefully hear what others think too.

I know the things I photograph aren’t always conventionally beautiful. I’m not chasing sunsets or landmarks. I’m interested in colour, texture, light – and sometimes just the plain truth of what’s in front of me. I’m not trying to make things look better than they are. I’m trying to show how much we miss by not paying attention.

This is just a space to share something I care about – with authenticity, honesty, and intention.
